HORSES

LUSITANOS

The Lusitano is bred in Portugal already for hundreds of years and he is very close related to his Spanish neighbor, the Andalusian of PRE.

The beauty of the Lusitano is that it is a very versatile breed, which can compete on the highest levels in almost every discipline, like bullfighting, classical dressage, carriage horse and in the early days he was of course used in the war by his rider as a weapon.

Nowadays the Lusitano is also very much appreciated as a recreation horse, because with his fearless character he is the ideal horse to make a long trip along the beach or through the forest, but he also goes very easy along the road. In short, a breed that offers something for everybody.

Foals

TAKE A LOOK AT OUR FOALS

The foals of Quinta do Nenufar are all raised in herds, if possible always with foals of the same age and some older animals with them, so they learn to socialize right from the beginning. The foals are weened with 7-8 months so they can stay a good time with their mums and the other mares. When they are weened they stay about 4 weeks at home, to be vaccineted, wormed and to get used to the basics, like being touched, being tied up, pick up their feet, etc.
